Honoring the Hearts of Jesus and Mary in June

June is the month to honor the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary, offering Catholics a beautiful opportunity to deepen their devotion and transform their hearts through prayer and novena participation. These Sacred Hearts represent the perfect love of Christ, who gave His life for our salvation, and the sinless heart of Mary, whose complete surrender to God’s will shows us the path to holiness.

Listen as you read

June holds a special place in the Catholic liturgical calendar as the month dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, with the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart celebrated on the Friday following the second Sunday after Pentecost. This beautiful devotion, which has flourished for centuries, invites us into deeper contemplation of Christ’s infinite love for humanity.

The devotion to the Sacred Heart reveals the very essence of God’s love—a love so profound that it led Christ to sacrifice Himself on the cross. When we meditate on His Sacred Heart, we encounter not just a symbol, but the living reality of divine mercy, compassion, and infinite tenderness. This heart, pierced for our salvation, continues to beat with love for each soul.

Intimately connected to this devotion is our reverence for the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The Church recognizes that Mary’s heart, free from sin and perfectly united to God’s will, serves as the pathway through which we can approach her Son. Her heart, pierced by the sword of sorrow prophesied by Simeon, shares in the redemptive suffering of Christ while remaining a source of maternal comfort and intercession for all believers.

The pairing of these two devotions is no accident. Mary’s Immaculate Heart leads us to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, just as her life was entirely oriented toward Him. Through her “yes” to God’s plan, she became the vessel through which the Sacred Heart of her Son would enter our world. Her heart, full of grace and united perfectly to the Divine Will, shows us how our own hearts should respond to God’s love.

During this month of June, we are called to deeper conversion and consecration. The Sacred Heart invites us to examine our own hearts—to root out whatever prevents us from loving as Christ loves. Through devotion to Mary’s Immaculate Heart, we learn the perfect response of surrender and trust that opens us to divine grace.

We invite you to deepen your devotion through prayer by joining us for the upcoming Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Novena to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. These nine days of focused prayer offer a powerful opportunity to draw closer to these Sacred Hearts, to make reparation for our sins and the sins of the world, and to consecrate ourselves more fully to their love.

Both novenas can be found in the links below, or by going to our YouTube channel and website. Through the faithful devotion of these novenas, may our hearts be united with Catholics around the world in honoring these sacred hearts, and assist in bringing countless souls closer to Christ, and His Blessed Mother. May God bless you!

Five First Saturdays Devotion – Prayers to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

These First Saturday Prayers to the Immaculate Heart of Mary are recommended for those participating in the Five First Saturdays devotion.

The Five First Saturdays devotion originated from the 1917 apparitions of the Virgin Mary in Fatima, Portugal. During these apparitions, Our Lady asked for acts of reparation to be made on the first Saturday of five consecutive months, with the intention of atoning for the sins committed against her Immaculate Heart.

Our Lady promises her assistance and graces especially at the hour of death, as well as peace and consolation in families and eventual salvation for those who faithfully practice the First Five Saturdays devotion. It involves attending Mass, receiving communion, praying the Rosary, and meditating on its mysteries on 5 consecutive first Saturdays with the intention of making reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

The promises of Mary for the First Five Saturdays devotion:
* On each First Saturday, after receiving communion, reciting the Rosary, and meditating for 15 minutes on the mysteries of the Rosary, Our Lady promised to assist at the hour of death with all the graces necessary for salvation all those who make this devotion in reparation to Her Immaculate Heart.
* Our Lady promised to grant peace to families who fulfill this devotion.
* Those who fulfill the devotion will be consoled by Our Lady and will see Her eventually in heaven.
* Our Lady promised to assist in the salvation of those who practice this devotion by the graces of Her Immaculate Heart.

Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
O IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY, Queen of heaven and earth and tender Mother of men, in accordance with thy ardent wish made known at Fatima we consecrate to thee ourselves, our brethren, our country and the whole human race. Reign over us and teach us how to make the Heart of Jesus reign and triumph in us and around us as It has reigned and triumphed in thee.

Reign over us, dearest Mother, that we may be thine in prosperity and in adversity, in joy and in sorrow, in health and in sickness, in life and in death.

O most compassionate Heart of Mary, Queen of Virgins, watch over our minds and hearts and preserve them from the deluge of impurity which thou didst lament  so sorrowfully at Fatima. We want to be pure like thee. We want to atone for the many sins committed against Jesus and thee. We want to call down upon our country and the whole world the peace of God in justice and charity.

Therefore, we now promise to imitate thy virtues by the practice of a Christian life  without regard to human respect. We resolve to receive Holy Communion on the first Saturday of every month and to offer thee five decades of the Rosary each day together with our sacrifices in a spirit of reparation and penance.  Amen.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, obtain peace for the world.

Let Us Pray:
O God of infinite goodness and mercy, fill our hearts with a great confidence in our Most Holy Mother, whom we invoke under the title of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and grant us by her most powerful intercession all the graces, spiritual and temporal, which we need. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Act of Reparation (To be recited on the First Saturdays)
Most Holy Virgin and our beloved Mother, we listen with grief to the complaints of thy Immaculate Heart, surrounded with the thorns which ungrateful men place therein at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude.

Moved by the ardent desire of loving thee as our Mother, and of promoting a true devotion to thy Immaculate Heart, we prostrate ourselves at thy feet to prove the sorrow we feel for the grief that men cause thee, and to atone, by means of  our prayers and sacrifices for the offenses for which men return thy tender love. Obtain for them, and for us, the pardon of so many sins. A word from thee will obtain grace and forgiveness for us all.

Hasten, O Lady, the conversion of sinners that they may love Jesus and cease to offend God, already so much offended, and thus avoid eternal punishment. Turn thine eyes of mercy towards us so that henceforth we may love God with all our hearts while on earth and enjoy Him forever in Heaven. Amen.

About This Devotion

What Is Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary?

To consecrate oneself to the Immaculate Heart of Mary is to entrust one’s entire life — body, soul, and all that we have — to Our Lady’s maternal care and protection. It is a formal act of devotion in which we recognize Mary as our spiritual Mother and place ourselves under her guidance, asking her to lead us ever closer to her Son, Jesus Christ.

This consecration is not worship of Mary, but rather an entrustment to her. Just as Jesus, from the Cross, gave Mary to us as our Mother when He said to St. John, “Behold, your mother” (John 19:27), we respond by giving ourselves to her as her children. Through this act, we ask Mary to form us, protect us, and present our prayers and sacrifices to God.

The Connection to Fatima

The devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary received powerful emphasis through the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima in 1917. When Our Lady appeared to the three shepherd children — Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta — in Fatima, Portugal, she revealed her Immaculate Heart and asked that devotion to it be spread throughout the world.

Our Lady told the children: “Jesus wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart. To whoever embraces this devotion, I promise salvation; these souls shall be dear to God, as flowers placed by me to adorn His throne.”

She specifically requested that the Holy Father, in union with all the bishops of the world, consecrate Russia to her Immaculate Heart, and that the faithful practice the First Saturday devotion in reparation for sins committed against her Immaculate Heart.

Renewing Your Consecration

Once made, your consecration should be renewed regularly. Many faithful Catholics renew their consecration:

  • Daily, using a shorter prayer of renewal
  • Monthly, particularly on First Saturdays
  • Annually, on the anniversary of their consecration or on a Marian feast day

A simple daily renewal might be as brief as: “I am all yours, my Queen and my Mother, and all that I have is yours.”

Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
O Adorable Heart of Jesus, the tenderest, the most amiable, the most generous of all hearts! Penetrated with gratitude at the sight of Thy benefits, I come to consecrate myself wholly and unreservedly to Thee! I wish to devote all my energies to propagating Thy worship and winning, if possible, all hearts to Thee.

Receive my heart this day, O Jesus. Or rather take it, change it, purify it, to render it worthy of Thee; make it humble, gentle, patient, faithful, and generous like Thine, by inflaming it with the fire of Thy love. Hide it in Thy Divine Heart with all hearts that love Thee and are consecrated to Thee; never permit me to take my heart from Thee again. Let me rather die than grieve Thy Adorable Heart. Thou knowest, O Heart of Jesus, that the desire of my heart is to love Thee always, to be wholly Thine in life and in death, in time and in eternity.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in Thee.

Consecration to St. Joseph
O St. Joseph, spouse of Mary, virginal father of Jesus, and my spiritual father, I consecrate myself entirely to you. I lovingly embrace your fatherhood and take refuge under your paternal cloak. Help me to pray and to be virtuous today. Instruct me in the wisdom of the saints, protect me from the snares of the enemy, and keep me from sinning. Should I take my last breath today, be by my side, and take me Heaven to be with Jesus and Mary. Amen.
