Prayer for the Dying

The “Prayer for the Dying” is a powerful plea to Jesus, the Lover of Souls, to wash clean in His Precious Blood all the sinners of the world who are to die this day, particularly the soul we spiritually adopt and entrust to His Shepherd’s care. We beg for the grace to move this sinner, who is in danger of going to Hell, to repent, trusting in Jesus’ great mercy.

Prayer for the Dying

Prayer Video – Prayer for the Dying

O Most Merciful Jesus, lover of souls, I beseech Thee, by the agony of Thy most Sacred Heart, and by the sorrows of Thine Immaculate Mother, wash clean in Thy Blood the sinners of the whole world who are to die this day.

Remember most especially the soul I spiritually adopt with the intention of entrusting him or her to Thy Shepherd’s care: I beseech Thee for the grace to move this sinner, who is in danger of going to Hell, to repent. I ask this because of my trust in Thy great mercy.

If it should please Thy Majesty to send me a suffering this day in exchange for the grace I ask for this soul, then, it, too, shall please me very much, and I thank Thee, Most Sweet Jesus, Shepherd and Lover of Souls; I thank Thee for this opportunity to give mercy in thanksgiving for all the mercies Thou hast shown me.

Heart of Jesus, once in agony, have mercy on the dying.

A Prayer Against Depression

The “A Prayer Against Depression”, which was composed by St. Ignatius de Loyola, is a prayer asking God for strength, hope and perseverance to overcome feelings of depression and despair. The prayer acknowledges one’s suffering while affirming trust and faith in God’s goodness and mercy. Though brief, it expresses reliance on God’s grace to make it through difficult times. The prayer reflects St. Ignatius’ own struggles with despair and his deep Christian faith.

A Prayer Against Depression

O Christ Jesus,
when all is darkness
and we feel our weakness and helplessness,
give us the sense of Your presence,
Your love, and Your strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
in Your protecting love
and strengthening power,
so that nothing may frighten or worry us,
for, living close to You,
we shall see Your hand,
Your purpose, Your will through all things.

Dear holy servant of God, St. Peregrine, we pray today for healing. Intercede for us! God healed you of cancer and others were healed by your prayers. Please pray for the physical healing of…

These intentions bring us to our knees seeking your intercession for healing. We are humbled by our physical limitations and ailments. We are so weak and so powerless. We are completely dependent upon God. And so, we ask that you pray for us…

Pray for us, that we will not let sickness bring us to despair.
Pray for us, that we may persevere in hope.
Pray for us, that we will have the courage to offer up our suffering in unity with the Cross.
Pray for us, that the loneliness of our suffering will be consoled.
Pray for us, that the fear of death will be replaced with the hope of everlasting life.
Pray for us, that our suffering will not rob us of joy.
Pray for us, that in our pain we will not become selfish but ever more selfless.
Pray for us, that this sickness will teach me to depend more and more on God.
Pray for us, that our lives will glorify God alone.

We know, St. Peregrine, that you are a powerful intercessor because your life was completely given to God. We know that in as much as you pray for our healing, you are praying even more for our salvation. A life of holiness like yours is more important than a life free of suffering and disease. Pray for our healing, but pray even more that we might come as close to Our Lord as you are.

All Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be. Amen.

Prayer to Mary for Protection from the Coronavirus

The Prayer to Mary for Protection from the Coronavirus is a prayer composed by Pope Francis to Our Lady, Health of the Sick, imploring her protection over her children during this pandemic.

Prayer to Mary for Protection from the Coronavirus

Prayer Video – Prayer to Mary for Protection from the Coronavirus

O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick. At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain, with steadfast faith.

You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need. We are certain that you will provide, so that, as you did at Cana of Galilee, joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the Father’s will and to do what Jesus tells us: He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen.

We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.

Coronavirus Prayer

Prayer Video –Coronavirus Prayer

Jesus Christ, you traveled through towns and villages “curing every disease and illness.” At your command, the sick were made well. Come to our aid now, in the midst of the global spread of the Coronavirus, that we may experience your healing love.

Heal those who are sick with the virus. May they regain their strength and health through quality medical care.

Heal us from our fear, which prevents nations from working together and neighbors from helping one another.

Heal us from our pride, which can make us claim invulnerability to a disease that knows no borders.

Jesus Christ, healer of all, stay by our side in this time of uncertainty and sorrow. Be with those who have died from the virus. May they be at rest with you in your eternal peace.

Be with the families of those who are sick or have died. As they worry and grieve, defend them from illness and despair. May they know your peace.

Be with the doctors, nurses, researchers and all medical professionals who seek to heal and help those affected and who put themselves at risk in the process. May they know your protection and peace.

Be with the leaders of all nations. Give them the foresight to act with charity and true concern for the well-being of the people they are meant to serve. Give them the wisdom to invest in long-term solutions that will help prepare for or prevent future outbreaks. May they know your peace, as they work together to achieve it on earth.

Whether we are home or abroad, surrounded by many people suffering from this illness or only a few, Jesus Christ, stay with us as we endure and mourn, persist and prepare. In place of our anxiety, give us your peace.

Jesus Christ, heal us.

Consecration of the Sick to Mary

The Consecration of the Sick to Mary is a prayer composed by Pope Pius XII which emphasizes Mary’s own sorrows, especially her witnessing of Jesus’ crucifixion, and seeks her assistance in offering one’s own suffering as a form of redemptive participation in Christ’s passion.

Consecration of the Sick to Mary

Prayer Video – Consecration of the Sick to Mary

O kind and good Mother,
whose own soul was pierced by the sword of sorrow,
look upon us while,
in our sickness,
we arraign ourselves beside you
on the Calvary where your Jesus hangs.
Dowered with the high grace of suffering,
and hopeful of fulfilling in our own flesh
what is wanting in our sharing of Christ’s passion,
on behalf of his Mystical Body, the Church,
we consecrate to you ourselves and our pain.
We pray that you will place them
on that Altar of the Cross to which Jesus is affixed.
May they be little victims of propitiation for our salvation,
for the salvation of all peoples.

O Mother of Sorrows,
accept this consecration.
Strengthen our hopeful hearts,
that as partakers of Christ’s sufferings
we may also share in his comfort now and for evermore.
Amen.
