A Prayer to Consecrate One’s Home to Jesus is a prayer in which a household places its home, family, and daily life under the care and lordship of Our Lord Jesus. It asks Him to be present at the table, in work and rest, and in the evenings when the family returns home tired. It petitions for patience with one another, forgiveness, and protection from sin, evil, and division, and asks that the home be a place of prayer where His commandments are honored. The prayer includes an act of consecration of the family and home to Him, asks for the intercession of Mary and St. Joseph, and concludes with the traditional Catholic doxology.
Lord Jesus,
we place our home in Your care today.
Every room and everyone under this roof belongs to You.
Come and be at the center of our household.
Be with us at our table,
in our work and in our rest.
Be with us in the evenings when we come through the door tired.
Where there is joy, let it be Yours.
When there is trouble, be our strength.
Teach us to treat one another as You treat us.
Give us patience with each other,
and forgive us when we fail.
Let those who come to our door find You here.
Keep sin and evil out of this house, and keep us from whatever would divide us.
Make our home a place of prayer,
where Your name is spoken with love
and Your commandments are honored.
When trials come, help us face them together and trust in You.
We consecrate to You our family and our home.
Reign here, Lord Jesus, and make this house Your own.
Mary, Mother of Jesus, and St. Joseph, pray for our family.
Lord Jesus, we trust in You.
We ask this in Your name, Lord Jesus, who live and reign with the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Amen.
