O glorious St. Gregory the Great, Pope and Doctor of the Church, faithful servant of the servants of God, you governed the Church with wisdom, humility, and unfailing charity, and gave your life to spreading the Gospel to distant lands.
You loved the sacred liturgy and gave the Church a treasury of prayer and chant that still lifts our hearts to God today. You cared for the poor, guided souls with patience, and never sought honor for yourself, but only the glory of Christ.
St. Gregory, obtain for us a spirit of humility in service, wisdom in leadership, and love for the beauty of the Church’s worship. Help us to see Christ in those we serve, and to labor for souls as you did, without counting the cost.
Pray for us, that we may be found faithful servants of the gifts God has given us, and that our lives may bring honor to His holy Name. Amen.
