The Prayer to St. Tarcisius is an invocation to the patron of altar servers and First Communicants, seeking his intercession for those who wish to guard the Eucharist with the same devotion he showed. Through this prayer, the faithful ask for spiritual courage, protection from evil, and the strength to carry Christ’s love into the world despite hardship.
St. Tarcisius was a young server of the altar in the early Church, believed to have lived in the third century during a time of Roman persecution. Entrusted with carrying the Holy Eucharist to Christians awaiting martyrdom, he was attacked by a mob demanding he surrender what he carried. He died protecting the Sacrament rather than allow it to be desecrated.
Prayer to St. Tarcisius
St. Tarcisius, guardian of the Blessed Sacrament, may your holy example serve as a reminder to us to always treasure Jesus in our hearts. Pray that we may remain spiritually steadfast in the face of all evil, and fortify us with courage to carry Christ’s love to others and to endure all hardships with patience.
Through your holy intercession, may our Lord bless and protect all altar servers, first communicants, and all Eucharistic ministers. St. Tarcisius, martyr of the Holy Eucharist, pray for us.
