Novena to the Holy Face of Jesus

The Novena to the Holy Face of Jesus is a nine-day prayer devotion honoring the sacred countenance of Our Lord as it appeared during His Passion. This devotion originated through revelations given to Sister Marie of St. Peter (1816–1848), a Discalced Carmelite nun in Tours, France, who reported that Jesus desired reparation for blasphemy and the profanation of Sundays. Through this novena, the faithful contemplate Christ’s suffering with love, make reparation for sin, and seek pardon and mercy through the merits of His Passion.

Have mercy on me, O God in Your goodness,

wash me clean of my guilt, purify me from my sin.

O most Holy Face of Jesus, look with tenderness on us, who are sinners. You are a merciful God, full of love and compassion. Keep us pure of heart, so that we may see You always.

PRAYER TO OUR ALMIGHTY FATHER
Almighty Father, come into our hearts, and so fill us with Your love that forsaking all evil desires, we may embrace You, our only good. Show us, O Lord our God, what You are to us. Say to our souls, “I am Your salvation”; speak so that we may hear. Our hearts are before You; open our ears; let us hasten after Your voice.

Hide not Your Face from us, we beseech You, O Lord. Open our hearts so that You may enter in. Repair the ruined mansions, that You may dwell therein. Hear us, O Heavenly Father, for the sake of Your only Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Against You, You alone, have I sinned;
What is evil in Your sight I have done.

Most Holy Face of Jesus, we are truly sorry that we have hurt You so much by constantly doing what is wrong; and for all the good works we have failed to do. Immaculate Heart of Mary, St. Joseph, intercede for us, help us to console the Most Holy Face of Jesus. Pray that we may share in the tremendous love Thou hast for one another, and for the most Holy and Blessed Trinity. PRAYER TO THE HOLY SPIRIT
Come, Holy Spirit, Sanctifier, all powerful God of love, Thou who didst fill the Virgin Mary with grace, Thou who didst wonderfully transform the hearts of the apostles. Thou who didst endow all Thy martyrs with a miraculous heroism, home and sanctify us, illumine our minds, strengthen our wills, purify our consciences, rectify our judgments, set our hearts on fire and preserve us from the misfortune of resisting Thine inspirations. We consecrate to Thee our understanding, our heart and our will, our whole being for time and for eternity. May our understanding be always submissive to Thy heavenly inspirations and to the teachings of Thy Holy Catholic Church, of which Thou art the infallible guide; May our heart be ever inflamed with love of God and neighbor, may our will be ever conformed to the divine will, and may our whole life be a faithful imitation of the life and virtues of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to whom with the Father and Thee be honor and glory forever. You are just when You pass sentence on me,
blameless when You give judgment.
You know I was born guilty,
a sinner from the moment of conception.

O Jesus! Cast upon us a look of mercy: turn Your Face towards each of us… as You did to Veronica; not that we may see it with our bodily eyes, for this we do not deserve, But turn it towards our hearts, so that, remembering You, we may ever draw from this fountain of strength the vigor necessary to sustain the combats of life. Amen.

O Lord Jesus, who has said, learn from me for I am meek and gentle of heart, and who did manifest upon Thy Holy Face the sentiments of Thy divine heart, grant that we may love to come frequently and meditate upon Thy divine features. May we read there Thy gentleness and Thy humility, and learn how to form our hearts in the practice of these two virtues which Thou desires to see shine in Thy servants.

PRAYER IN HONOR OF THE DOLORS OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN
O Most Holy and afflicted Virgin, Queen of Martyrs!
Who stood beneath the cross, witnessing the agony of your dying Son,
look down with a mother’s tenderness and pity on us,
as we kneel before you to venerate your Dolors
and place our requests, with filial confidence,
in the sanctuary of your wounded heart.

Present them on our behalf to Jesus,
Through the merits of His most sacred Passion and Death,
together with your sufferings at the foot of the cross,
and through the united efficacy of both,
obtain the favor which we humbly ask.

To whom shall we go in our wants and miseries if not to you. O Mother of Mercy, who having so deeply drunk of the chalice of your Son, graciously alleviate the sufferings of those who still sigh in this land of exile. Amen.

PRAYER TO THE SOULS IN PURGATORY
My Jesus, by the sorrows You suffered in Your agony in the Garden, in Your scourging and crowning with thorns, in the way to Calvary, in Your Crucifixion and Death, have mercy on the souls in Purgatory, and especially on those that are most forsaken. Deliver them from the dire torments they endure. Call them and admit them to Your most sweet embrace in Paradise. Amen.

Lord, suffer us not to be content with mere compassion, but give us grace so closely to follow Thee in this Calvary, so that the opprobrium destined for Thee may fall on us, O Jesus, that thus we may have a share, small though it may be, in expiation of sin. Amen.

PRAYER TO ST PETER
O glorious St. Peter, who in return for thy lively and generous faith, thy profound and sincere humility and thy burning love, was honored by Jesus Christ with singular privileges, and in particular, with the leadership of the other apostles and the primacy of the whole Church, of which thou was made the foundation stone, do thou obtain for us the grace of a lively faith, that shall not fear to profess itself openly in its entirety and in all of its  manifestations, even to the shedding of blood, if occasion should demand it, and to the sacrifice of life itself in preference to surrender. Obtain for us likewise a sincere loyalty to our Holy Mother the Church. Grant that we may ever remain most closely and sincerely united to the Holy Father, who is the heir of thy faith and of thy authority, the one true visible head of the Catholic Church. Grant, moreover, that we may follow, in all humility and meekness, the Church’s teachings and counsels and may be obedient to all her precepts, in order to be able, here on earth, to enjoy a peace that is sure and undisturbed, and to attain one day in heaven to everlasting happiness. Amen.

[Prayer Video for Day 9]

PRAYER TO THE HOLY TRINITY
Most Holy Trinity, Godhead indivisible, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, our first beginning and our last end. Since You have made us after Your own image and likeness, grant that all the thoughts of our minds, all the words of our tongues, all the affections of our hearts, and all our actions, may be always conformed to Your most Holy Will, so that, after having seen You here on earth in appearances and in a dark manner by the means of faith, we may come at last to contemplate You face to face, in the perfect possession of You forever in paradise. Amen.

ACT OF CONSECRATION
O Lord Jesus, we believe most firmly in You, we love You. You are the Eternal Son of God and the Son Incarnate of the Blessed Virgin Mary. You are the Lord and Absolute Ruler of all creation. We acknowledge You, therefore, as the Universal Sovereign of all creatures. You are the Lord and Supreme Ruler of all mankind, and we, in acknowledging this Your dominion, consecrate ourselves to You now and forever.

Loving Jesus, we place our family under the protection of Your Holy Face, and of Your Virgin Mother, Mary most sorrowful. We promise to be faithful to You for the rest of our lives and to observe with fidelity Your Holy Commandments. We will never deny before men, You and Your Divine rights over us and all  mankind.

Grant us the grace to never sin again; nevertheless, should we fail, O Divine Savior, have mercy on us and restore us to Your grace. Radiate Your Divine Countenance upon us and bless us now and forever. Embrace us at the hour of death in Your Kingdom for all eternity, through the intercession of Your Blessed Mother, of all Your Saints who behold You in Heaven, and the just who glorify You on earth. O Jesus, be mindful of us forever and never forsake us; protect our family.

O Mother of Sorrows, by the eternal glory which you enjoy in Heaven, through the merits of your bitter anguish in the Sacred Passion of your Beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, obtain for us the grace that the Precious Blood, shed by Jesus for the redemption of our souls, be not shed for us in vain. We love you, O Mary. Embrace us and bless us, O Mother. Protect us in life and in death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Prayer for the New Year (2026)

The “Prayer for the New Year” is a prayer that invites the faithful to pause and lift their hearts to God – thanking Him for the blessings of the past and placing the unknown future in His providential hands. It asks the Lord to bless families, strengthen His Church, draw back those who have strayed, grant wisdom to world leaders, comfort the suffering, and receive into eternal rest all who have died.

Prayer for the New Year (2026)

Heavenly Father, Author of all time and eternity, we come before You at the threshold of this new year with grateful and hopeful hearts. We thank You for the blessings of the year now passing and place ourselves entirely in Your providential care.

Pour out Your abundant blessings upon our families and friends. May our homes be sanctuaries of Your peace, where love grows deeper and wounds are healed through the grace of forgiveness.

We pray for Your Holy Church – for our Holy Father, Pope Leo, for our bishops and priests, and for all the faithful throughout the world. Strengthen those who proclaim Your Gospel, and renew the hearts of all who serve You.

Grant wisdom to the leaders of nations, that justice may flourish and true peace take root in every land. Extend Your merciful hand to those burdened by poverty or suffering, that they may find relief and know they are not forgotten.

And Father, welcome into Your eternal rest all who have died this past year, and prepare the souls of those whom You will call home in this new year.

As we step forward into the unknown days before us, be our constant guide – and may this be a year in which we grow ever closer to You and to one another.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

the Father Almighty,
Creator of Heaven and earth;
and in Jesus Christ,
His only Son, our Lord,
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into Hell.
On the third day He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into Heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,

the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.

Act of Contrition

O My God,
I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee,

and to avoid the near occasions of sin.
Amen.

Act of Faith

O my God, I firmly believe that you are one God in three divine Persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Memorare

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone
who fled to thy protection, implored thy help,
or sought thine intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly to thee,
O Virgin of virgins, my mother;
to thee do I come,
before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise my petitions,
but in thy mercy hear and answer me.
Amen.

Magnificat

My soul proclaim the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.

He has mercy on those who fear him
in ever generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm,
he has scattered the proud in their conceit.

He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.

He has come to the help of his servant Israel
for he has remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children forever.

Prayer Before A Crucifix

Behold, O kind and most sweet Jesus,
I cast myself upon my knees in your sight,
and with the most fervent desire of my soul
I pray and beseech that you would impress upon my heart
lively sentiments of Faith, Hope and Charity,
true repentance for my sins
and a firm purpose of amendment,
while with deep affection and grief of soul
I ponder within myself and mentally contemplate
your five most precious wounds,
having before my eyes that which David spoke in
prophecy of you, O good Jesus:
“They have pierced my hands and feet,
they have numbered all my bones.”
Amen.

The Sign of the Cross

The Sign of the Cross is the most fundamental prayer gesture in Catholic tradition, combining a simple yet profound prayer with a sacred physical movement. When we pray “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,” while touching our forehead, chest, and shoulders, we invoke the Holy Trinity and mark ourselves as Christians.

This ancient practice, dating back to the earliest days of the Church, serves as both a mini-profession of faith and a powerful blessing. Catholics begin and end virtually every prayer with the Sign of the Cross, including the Rosary, as it sanctifies our actions and reminds us that everything we do should be done in God’s name. The physical gesture itself forms a cross over our body, symbolizing Christ’s redemption and our baptismal commitment, while calling down God’s protection and grace upon us.

The Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father,
and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

The Apostles’ Creed

The Apostles’ Creed is the ancient profession of faith that summarizes the core beliefs of Christianity. Dating back to the early Church, this creed serves as a concise statement of what Catholics believe about God the Father, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the Church.

The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God,
the Father Almighty,
Creator of Heaven and earth;
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into Hell.
On the third day He rose again from the dead.
He ascended into Heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.

Chaplet of St. Michael the Archangel

The “Chaplet of St. Michael the Archangel” devotion was revealed by Our Lord Jesus Christ to the Portuguese Carmelite nun Antónia d’Astónaco in 1751. This prayer honors Saint Michael the Archangel and the nine choirs of angels through nine salutations. The devotion carries Christ’s own promise that whoever prays this chaplet daily will be accompanied by an angel from each of the nine choirs during their lifetime and at the hour of death, making it both a shield of protection and a pathway to the heavenly court.

R:/ that we may be made worthy of His promises.

Let us pray:

Almighty and Everlasting God, Who, by a prodigy of goodness and a merciful desire for the salvation of all men, has appointed the most glorious Archangel St. Michael… Prince of Your Church. Honoring St. Joseph After the Rosary

In our modern world, filled with challenges to faith and family life, St. Joseph’s intercession remains as relevant as ever. Through the Prayer To St. Joseph After The Rosary, we acknowledge our need for his guidance and protection, just as the Holy Family once depended on his earthly care.

Listen as you read

After the final “Hail Holy Queen” concludes our Rosary, many Catholics continue with additional prayers that deepen our spiritual reflection. Among these cherished additions is the “Prayer to St. Joseph After The Rosary”, a beautiful invocation that honors the foster father of Jesus and protector of the Holy Family.

Why St. Joseph After the Rosary?

Including St. Joseph in our post-Rosary prayers creates a beautiful spiritual symmetry. While the Rosary focuses primarily on the mysteries of Christ’s life through Mary’s eyes, the Prayer to St. Joseph After the Rosary acknowledges the earthly father who protected and guided the Holy Family.

St. Joseph was present for many of the Joyful Mysteries we contemplate—the Annunciation (though not physically present, his acceptance was crucial), the Nativity, the Presentation, and the Finding of Jesus in the Temple.

St. Joseph’s role as protector makes him a natural intercessor to invoke after we’ve meditated on the life of Christ. Just as he safeguarded the infant Jesus from Herod’s persecution, we ask him to protect us and the Church from spiritual dangers.

The Significance of Joseph’s Patronage

Pope Pius IX declared St. Joseph the Patron of the Universal Church in 1870, recognizing his unique role in salvation history. As we conclude our Rosary—a prayer that spans the entire mystery of our redemption—we turn to St. Joseph, asking him to watch over the fruits of that redemption: the Church and all her children.

The prayer emphasizes several key aspects of St. Joseph’s character:

  • His charity and bond with Mary
  • His paternal love for Jesus
  • His role as guardian and protector
  • His example of holiness and obedience to God’s will

A Personal Connection

When we pray to St. Joseph after the Rosary, we’re not merely reciting words but entering into a relationship with someone who lived intimately with Jesus and Mary. St. Joseph experienced the joys and sorrows of family life, the challenges of providing and protecting, and the mystery of God’s plan unfolding in unexpected ways.

This prayer invites us to see St. Joseph not as a distant saint, but as a spiritual father who understands our daily struggles and can intercede for our needs—both temporal and eternal.

Making It Part of Your Rosary Routine

If you haven’t already included the Prayer to St. Joseph in your Rosary routine, consider adding it after the concluding prayers. Many find that this addition provides a sense of completion, invoking the protection of both our spiritual mother and father as we return to our daily activities.

The prayer can be especially meaningful for families praying the Rosary together, as St. Joseph serves as a model for all fathers and protectors of the domestic church.

We invite you to join us in praying the Prayer to St. Joseph After The Rosary by clicking on the link below, or by joining us on our YouTube channel or website. May St. Joseph’s powerful intercession bring you peace, protection, and deeper union with the Sacred Heart of Jesus. May God bless you!

St. Joseph, pray for us.

The Hopeful Mysteries: A New Gift for the Church

In our times of uncertainty and division, the Hopeful Mysteries offer exactly what our world needs: hope rooted in God’s proven faithfulness throughout history. They remind us that even in humanity’s darkest moments—from the Fall to the Flood, from slavery in Egypt to exile—God never abandoned His people. Instead, He was always preparing the way for redemption.

LISTEN AS YOU READ

As Catholics celebrate this extraordinary Jubilee Year of 2025 under Pope Francis’s theme “Pilgrims of Hope,” an exciting development in Catholic devotional life has emerged: The Hopeful Mysteries of the Rosary.

What Are the Hopeful Mysteries?

The Hopeful Mysteries are a newly approved set of five meditations that invite us to contemplate God’s faithful preparation for the coming of Christ throughout salvation history. These mysteries focus on pivotal moments before the Annunciation when God revealed His enduring mercy and hope to humanity.

The Hopeful Mysteries

  1. The Creation and The Fall of Man – God’s original plan and the first ray of hope after sin
  2. The Flood and God’s Universal Covenant – Divine mercy preserving humanity through Noah
  3. Abraham’s Sacrifice and God’s Promise of Fruitfulness – Faith rewarded with blessing for all nations
  4. The Passover and the Exodus – God’s mighty deliverance of His chosen people
  5. The Immaculate Conception – The perfect preparation of Mary, our hope

Official Church Approval

These mysteries aren’t just a personal devotion—they carry the full approval of the Catholic Church. Bishop William Wack of the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee granted them Imprimatur and Nihil Obstat on August 22, 2024 (the Feast of the Coronation of Mary), and officially promulgated them on December 8, 2024 (the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception).

The timing is providential: these mysteries were introduced just as the Church entered the Jubilee Year of Hope, offering Catholics a powerful new way to meditate on God’s enduring faithfulness.

Addressing Common Questions

Some Catholics may wonder: “Are these legitimate since Our Lady didn’t give them to us directly?” This is a fair question that deserves a thoughtful answer.

The Church’s Authority: The Catholic Church has always had the authority to approve and recommend devotions that are theologically sound and spiritually beneficial. Not every approved Catholic devotion comes directly from apparitions. The Luminous Mysteries, for example, were added by Pope St. John Paul II in 2002 and are now universally prayed.

Biblical Foundation: Four of the five Hopeful Mysteries are taken directly from Sacred Scripture, while the fifth (the Immaculate Conception) is a defined dogma of our faith. They don’t contradict Church teaching—they illuminate it.

Episcopal Approval: Bishop Wack didn’t approve these mysteries lightly. After careful theological review and prayer (including praying them during his pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago), he declared them “worthy of pious devotion anywhere,” though not as universal mysteries.

Complementing, Not Replacing: These mysteries don’t replace the traditional four sets. They offer an additional meditation for those who feel called to pray them, helping us understand how God prepared the world for Christ’s coming.

Why Now?

In our times of uncertainty and division, the Hopeful Mysteries offer exactly what our world needs: hope rooted in God’s proven faithfulness throughout history. They remind us that even in humanity’s darkest moments—from the Fall to the Flood, from slavery in Egypt to exile—God never abandoned His people. Instead, He was always preparing the way for redemption.

As Bishop Wack beautifully expressed: “The more I pray these mysteries, the deeper I am drawn into the mystery of salvation. Indeed, praying these mysteries truly imparts hope for all who pray them with an open heart.”

How This Fits Catholic Devotional Life

The Rosary has always been about bringing Catholics closer to Christ through Mary. These new mysteries perfectly align with this mission, offering Catholics another beautiful way to encounter God’s love and mercy through meditation on salvation history.

Moving Forward with Hope

The Hopeful Mysteries aren’t mandatory—they’re a gift. A gift that arrived at precisely the right moment, when the world desperately needs hope. Whether you choose to pray them regularly, occasionally, or simply learn about them, they offer a beautiful reminder that our God is a God of hope who has been preparing our salvation from the very beginning.

We invite you to join us in praying the Hopeful Mysteries of the Holy Rosary by clicking on the link below, or by visiting us on our YouTube channel. May these mysteries offer us all an opportunity to deepen our faith and grow in hope, and provide us one more way to encounter the infinite love of God, who never stops working for humanity’s good.

Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

The “Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel” is a powerful prayer of protection and spiritual warfare, asking for the intercession of the mighty Archangel Michael against Satan and evil forces. This beloved prayer calls upon St. Michael, known as the “Prince of the Heavenly Host,” to defend us in our spiritual battles and to cast Satan and all evil spirits into hell by the power of God.

Prayer Video –Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into Hell Satan and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
